Hiromi Yamaji, President and CEO of Tokyo Stock Exchange, participated from JPX offices with a video message and delivered a scene-setting address on the collaboration between JPX and LSEG, including the FTSE JPX Net Zero Japan Index Series which was jointly launched this April. He also introduced “JPX’s priorities in ESG” as follows.

Firstly, as a market operator, we will be expanding our ESG-related products and services. These include building an information platform for publicly offered ESG bonds, calculating ESG indices, listing ESG ETFs and futures, vitalizing the energy markets, and working towards the creation of an emissions trading market.

Secondly, as a corporation, we are aiming for carbon neutrality across Group companies by FY2024.

And thirdly, we have set a longer-term goal of carbon neutrality across securities market operations, that is, our value chain, by 2030.

In a panel discussion (Japan and UK as Leaders in Harnessing the Capital Markets for Driving s
Sustainability), Natsuho Torii, Deputy Secretary General, Sustainability Committee Manager, Sustainability Department, Japan Exchange Group, joined as a panelist and discussed the disclosure of sustainability information and engagement between investors and companies.
